Brentford Distillers is a grain-to-glass distillery located in Decatur, Illinois.
Brentford Distillers starts making each batch by mixing the grains in just the right proportions, and carefully heating them to extract all the flavors and sugars they have to offer. Once the mash is ready, we transfer it to our fermenters and add the yeast. Our fermentation process is open-top and allows for a uniquely distinct flavor. After fermentation, the mash is transferred to the pot still and we begin the process of separating the mash from the alcohol. Using a combination of science and artistic creativity, we control the distilling process to produce a spirit unique to our region.

Moonshine
It wouldn’t be right to open a legal distillery in this country without paying homage to the backwoods bandits of our past. Therefore we are producing a legal moonshine that is as good as any you will find in the back hollers of our southern states. We use a 100% corn mash with an open vat fermentation process to create a truly historic flavor. Our moonshine still with all copper columns and bubble plates might look fancier than the old-timers but the flavor is just as authentic.
Vodka
Smooth enough to sip like whiskey and flavorful enough to stand alone. It is a great compliment to any of your favorite cocktails. It is triple distilled to provide the cleanest, clearest vodka possible. We have two varieties of vodka bottled on site. One is made from 100% corn and the other is a mixture of locally grown grains. Both are slowly distilled and are capable of standing up with the big commercially made varieties of vodka.
Brandy
Illinois has so many varieties of fruit, many grown locally. We are starting with two kinds, a Strawberry and Apple brandy. Both varieties contain bold flavors of the fruit they are made from. They are made only with fresh fruit and only when the fruit is ready. Keep watching for new releases as they become available.
Whiskey
Our whiskies are made from an all Illinois grain mash bill. Whiskies are some of our most favorite types of distillates to make. They are greatly overshadowed by the current excitement of bourbons but keep watching for all the craft whiskies we will be releasing. We have plans to showcase the many different possibilities of flavor profiles you can create without the need to sit in a barrel for years.
Bourbon
It has always been our dream to make a bourbon from scratch. The excitement of creating a distillate now and the anticipation of the flavor when the aging process is completed.
Gin
Gin seems like a must do for a craft distillery. Mixing all the botanicals and distilling them in a way to showcase their flavors while not overpowering the final results with the juniper is right up a craft distiller’s alley. We are working on a recipe we like and will need to make some adjustments to it. In the meantime, if you have a stellar recipe that you would be willing to share we would be happy to try it.
Age Your Own
Contact us for bulk quantities of unaged whiskey. You can age your own bourbon with our recipes or if you have a recipe you have been wanting to try but haven’t wanted to risk getting caught, it is still illegal without the proper permits, let us make a batch for you. You can oversee the entire process from fermenting to distilling. Your recipe, your rules, but our equipment and staff. We have an artesian pot still that is perfect for making small batches of your favorite spirit. Fermenting must be done on-site and all applicable laws and regulations will be followed (there are a lot of them).
